Havelock children are voted democratically each year to be part of Havelock Parliament – each of our roles allows the elected pupil to be responsible and speak on behalf of their year group in the following areas:
Member of Parliament — representing whole‑school pupil voice
Playground Minister — promoting safe, happy and active playtimes
Reading Minister — championing reading culture and library use
Rights Minister — supporting children’s rights and respectful relationships
Environment Minister — leading sustainability and eco‑initiatives
Travel Minister — encouraging safe, active and sustainable travel
Digital Minister — promoting online safety and digital citizenship
Children are elected at the start of the Autumn Term. Each class votes for one representative per role. Once elected, Ministers meet regularly with school leaders to discuss key priorities, share ideas, and help shape improvements across the school. They then report back to their classes so that every pupil’s voice is heard and valued.
What Our Ministers Do
Havelock Ministers play an active part in school life. Their contributions have included:
Designing and developing our junior playground
Helping shape updates to our school uniform
Leading and supporting whole‑school assemblies
Sharing pupil feedback from the annual questionnaire
Welcoming and touring important visitors
Meeting governors and supporting senior leaders with school events
Through these roles, pupils learn leadership, teamwork, communication and responsibility — ensuring that Havelock remains a school where children’s ideas genuinely help shape the future.
