At Havelock Primary School, we are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging children to make positive food choices. We believe that healthy eating plays an important role in supporting pupils' wellbeing, concentration and learning. Our Healthy Eating Policy is supported by staff, pupils, parents and governors, and forms part of our wider commitment to maintaining Healthy Schools standards.
Our school meals are provided by ISS Facility Services, who prepare fresh, nutritious meals on site each day. Pupils can choose from a varied menu that includes a range of healthy options, accompanied by salads and vegetables. Halal meal options are also available on selected days.
All pupils in Reception to Year 6 are currently entitled to a free school meal, funded through the Mayor of London's Universal Free School Meals programme.
Normally, a school lunch would cost £2.95 per day.
Children are welcome to bring a packed lunch to school. To support our healthy eating ethos, packed lunches should not contain:
We encourage families to provide a balanced lunch that includes healthy options such as fruit, vegetables and water.
Please refer to our Whole School Food Policy for further information about healthy eating and food provision at Havelock.
Even though all pupils currently receive a free school meal, families who meet the eligibility criteria should still apply for benefit-related Free School Meals. Registering helps the school access additional funding through the Pupil Premium, which supports children's learning and wellbeing.
